Not tape. Shrink tubing. It acts as an insulator and is needed so the bracket is a tighter fit in the flash shoe bracket.

Really liked using it. When I got my R50 couple weeks ago i was really disappointed that I couldn’t use it on the 50 and Canon doesn’t make one or isn’t anyplace to mount one. Probably because the video screen is able to be tilted any angle.
Determined I came up with a way to use the angle finder on the 50. Made a bracket out of aluminum and use the flash shoe bracket to hold it in place. Seems to be working as I want with a slight amount of vignetting in the corners of the cameras view finder.
I can live with that.

Good idea. I see you wrapped it with tape as an electric insulator; may want to point that out in your description.
