Hi - and thanks in advance for any help you might offer:

I've been loaned a Vixia HF200 and bought a Sandisk Extreme 16GB class 10 SDHC card to record to. When the card is inserted, the camera immediately notifies me that "Cannot record movies in MXP/FXP mode on this memory card."

I have looked for firmware updates and find none.

I have tested the card for read and write from my computer and it seems fine, though I don't actually know the throughput of it.

The camera owner uses an 8GB class 4 card that allows recording in the higher quality modes.

Help, please, I don't know what else to do and need the higher quality.

and thanks, again!

OK, I found the answer but have to ask - why can't I update the firmware myself like on my 5D mkII?

http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/camcorders/flash_memory_camcorders/vixia_hf200?pageKeyCode=prdAdvDetail&docId=0901e0248033964c
