External microphone buzzes when HF 100 camera is charging

Hello,

I have a Canon HF 100.

I'm using an omnidiectional Audiotek microphone to record interviews/meetings.

It is powered but uses a mono-input.

When the camera is just using battery (DC unplugged), the mic works fine.

When the DC is plugged in, the audio is cancelled out and replaced by buzzing.

The built in mic works fine when the DC is plugged in.

Please help. I find it very odd that the camera should do this.

I have the exact same issue with the Canon HF R42 and have not found a solution.

Same issue with an Audio-Technica mic.

So, the answer from Audio-Technica is to point me to a video produced by someone who uses the mic. Bottom line, yes it is the AC line because it's a "light circuit" and the answer is to never plug in the camera (use battery only) while using the mic.

I wrote in my original note that I can't do that because the videos I shoot are too long to rely on battery.

The end of the video says in essence: it's a cheap mic so suck it up. A-T offered no alternatives so I will have to find another option. Not an Audio-Technica option.

Update: the problem is with the AC line, and someone rewired my camera power cord but the buzzing has not stopped. Still looking for answers.
