ES8400V tape stuck

When I’d put my canon ES8400V, 8mm camcorder on “play” to watch the footages the screen just stays on a blank black screen and keeps saying “eject”.
I’d hit the eject button but the compartment won’t open up. The camera sounds like it’s reeling but the tape is just stuck inside. I can’t record with it or anything because it keeps saying “eject”. The screen black blank screen is started to get distorted now.

How will I get the tape compartment to open up?

Your ES8400V is a tired 23-year-old camera. Perhaps it's time to move on.
