Why did canon stop using AVCHD format?

I noticed unless I missed something, that after the vixia HF G40 the predecessors no longer do AVCHD format. You can only use MP4.

We are just users like you, we have no idea why Canon makes decisions like this.

Generally for patent issues, better performance or better compatibility.

AVCHD is better video image quality. 😞
