Suddenly, they just stopped showing up as Firewire sources. Both times, it seemed that it happened when I didn't turn them off before pulling the Firewire cable out of the computer. After that, nothing I've done has been able to bring them back -- I pulled the main battery and left it off for days, even pulled the clock battery and let it sit. Turned them off and on, checked for secret settings, nothing works.
