&lt;P&gt;Thanks for checking in.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Are you referencing the area on the front of the camera by the stereo microphone? That is actually the Instant AF sensor used for locking in the autofocus. It will not illuminate, but you'll want to keep that area clean to optimize focusing speed. It's not a bad idea to clean it with a lint-free lens cloth from time to time.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
