Canon Vixia HF R500 "memory card cover is open"

not sure why i'm getting this error message. i have tried different cards, all the same.

i am unable to record ANYthing because of this... $500 camcorder won't record!!

i understand this may be caused because of something to do with the door for where the memory card goes - but this IS closed and even if i squeeze it closed tight to possibly trigger a sensor, still same error.

where do we go from here?

absolutely not

even the link you sent is faulty

and obviously i need to get it repaired - was hoping somebody had an option other than spending another $100 or so for something that seems completely ridculous.
