Hi

Is there any software available to download for free that allows you to convert a .MOD file from an FS300 to something usable?

Though it is not free to use, except for a trial version, PowerDirector can convert .MOD files to something editable and it is a video editor as well. The school I used to teach at had a JVC camcorder that recorded .MOD files and I converted them using a program that is part of PowerDircector to convert the files to something I could use another program to edit.

Two free programs you can try are MPEG Streamclip and Handbrake. You can try one or both and see if either will convert a .MOD file.
