I tried the link that requires the 12 code serial number. I'm doing that but it tells me the system does not recognize the code.

The camcorder - Vixia HFS 10 - was bought in LA in Best Buy on 07/18/09.

I made a mistake. I charged the camcorder to the external outlet + I had charged the battery. Now is clear we need to charget the camcorder ONLY to the outlet. May be this concept could be clarified for future inquiries, for those we are not geeks.
