Since buying this model last summer it is now not supported by any software for transfering video to pc. Any advice would be appreciated. Canon don't seem to want to know

If your computer has a card slot, use that to transfer from your SD card. If not, you can purchase external card readers for very little money. I have always worked this way so never had to rely on software.

Can' get video from my new hf r800 to my pc either. Will this fix work on this camera as well - is it best method? Tried the instructions provided in box and it appears I need winzip to do that - have watched and tried any number of Uube video recommendations - nothing has worked - HELP!
