Canon XA20 built in mic controls "dark"

Hey folks. i am wanting to remove my handle and utilize the built in mic on the camera. When I do so, I am getting audio recording capabilities but when I goto the built in mic settings on the touch screen, they are all dim and there is no control. Can someone help please?

Hello scottcellis10,

In order to make these adjustments to the built-in microphone settings while recording, you must first activate the Custom Setting Audio Scene. To do this, go into FUNC. > Audio Scene and select the option for Custom Setting, then touch [X]. This should now allow you to customize audio settings to your preference.
