Not having owned that model or seen your issue firsthand, but owning a similiar G series model, it could be the SD card that is corrupt. I had that issue with my camera a few months ago and have not used the SD card that got corrupted since.

We were using a Canon XA 30 to record a church service. The camera had a fresh battery so it wasn't a power issue. The camera stopped recording for approximately 5 minutes and then resumed. There was no human intervention. The only indication was that the video file was missing those 5 minutes of footage.

Any ideas on what happened?

The only experience similar to this is when the camera reaches the maximum video file size and it drops one or two frames before it starts recording the new file.

If what was mentioned with the SD card being corrupt, you may need to initialize the SD card, which will get rid of everything that was on it beforehand.
