Camcorder Vixia HF G30 Recording Volume Problems

My daughter sings opera; has a very powerful voice. When I record her, the loud, high notes come out distorted, to much volume. How do I control this so I do not get the static and still record her singing?

Does anybody know?

When you're filming your daughter, is she on stage or much closer to your camcorder?
Are is the audio recording level manually or automatically controlled?

Hello Richard,

She is about 20-25 feet from me. She is singing outdoors thorugh a PA system designed to generate sound for an area about 1/4 the size of a football field.

In the past, I used automatic control and I got distortion.

Can you please help?
