Vixia HF G40

Cannot connect to PC or Laptop via USB or HDMI. Sometimes connects for about a second then drops the connection. Need this for my church to go Facebook Live. Have been doing it with a cell phone, but want to use the camera.

Hi there,

In order to livestream from your camcorder you will want to use the HDMI connection, but most HDMI ports on computers are output only, designed for use with monitors but not for an input signal. You should still be able to do this, but you would want to get a USB HDMI capture card which will give your computer an HDMI input.

Thank you. I will have to see if I can get that capture card. Can that card be installed into a Dell Laptop?

It will depend on your computer's specifications and the required specs for the specific capture card, so you will want to compare those numbers before committing to a purchase, but most capture cards connect via USB so they are designed to be as universal as possible.
