Huge 5D fan here.. Have had the MK1, MK2, MK3, and the MK4...but have since sold all of them except for the MK1. Also sold all my glass, except for the 50mm 1.4 but I think I'm going to pick up a 35mm.. Do you guys have any favorites or things to look out for with the 35mm ? Not a focal length I really shoot, never owned a 35mm prime so.. I'm just doing my research lol. Was walking thru DTLA the other day and was able to get these on the 50mm, but I could easily see myself capturing just a tad bit wider on another lens. Maybe the 35mm is it..

Canon has produced many EF 35mm lenses during the life of the EOS SLR & DSLRs.

The top of the line option is the EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM. Though I would consider the EF 35mm f/2 IS USM a more budget friendly option that is also smaller and lighter.

Greetings,

Brian said it all. If your plan is to continue investing in EF glass, I would get the f1.4 and buy it used. It was released in 2015 and should allow your camera to perform at it's best.

Just make sure you are looking at the correct versions of the 35mm lenses. Canon have produced the following models over the years.

EF 35mm f/2

EF 35mm f/2 IS USM

EF 35mm f/1.4L USM

EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM

Take a careful note of the model you are seeing listed on B&H to make sure it's one of the ones in bold in that list.
