EOS R6 -R6 Mark II manual focus difference?

Has anyone found this.? In manual focus mode on the R6 when pulling a card and power goes off THE Manual focus is disabled while the R6 mark II allows you to pull the card and retains the dialed in focus?

It,s important for remote cameras where u are pulling a card and leaving the remote w new card and want the same focus

I don’t normally remove cards from the camera while the power is on.

I would not expect the difference to be modeled related. I would expect it to be lens model related or a camera setting.

There is a setting, “Retract lens on power off” that you check. The effect of this setting can vary from one lens to the next.

When you pull a card, you open the card door and that powers off the camera. The setting retract lens on power off will retract a lens even if it is set for manual focus. The focus changes even for EF lenses in manual focus if you leave this active (which is the default)

You are my HERO. You are correct as I was using an EF 100mm and turning off the retract solved the problem and I can’t wait to get back to shooting that remote. You made my day and maybe week!!
