You bought the R10 so now you need to close the door on EF. Buy RF going forward. Penny wise and pound foolish not.

Should I get Mount Adapter EF-EOS R or an RF lens?

So I'm looking to add a wide angle to my arsenal for my R10. I still have an EFS 10-22mm 3.5-4.5 laying around. I was also considering the RFS 10-18mm, which I can get for around 350 euros. I can get the EF-RF adapter for about 100 euros. Is the EFS lens worth the adapter or should I just go for the newer, more compact RFS lens? I don't have other lenses that I particularly want to adapt.

The EF-S 10-22mm lens is a good lens. Itis a budget decision - is the smaller size and lower weight (which will be emphasized if you combine the EF-S lens with the adapter) worth 250 Euros to you?

Greetings,

Here's a good comparison between the two.

https://cameradecision.com/lenses/compare/Canon-RF-S-10-18mm-F4.5-6.3-IS-STM-vs-Canon-EF-S-10-22mm-f3.5-4.5-USM

I would double down and get the RF-S lens. It's shorter overall length, smaller diameter and decreased weight is always welcome. One stop of light difference which you're just not going to notice. It's also weather sealed even though your R10 isn't 🙂. You can buy it refurb or new and sell your EF-S to offset the purchase. No adapter needed, better future proofing and compatibility in the long term.
