I’m confused, too. What gear are you using that’s giving you problems. Are you using Canon lenses with a Canon mount adapter.

Mount needed for RF lens on EOS R6

Hello everyone!

I have a R6 Camera and I have been having issues with the adapter for my EF lens. It has drained battery and issues with startup so I decided to stop using my old lenses and upgrade to an RF lens but now im seeing i need a "mount" does this mean the Canon r6 has no lens that connect straight to its body. That i have to have a adapter no matter what lens i get? Im confused on the "mount" does this come with a new lens purchase or do i have to get it separately. I definitely dont want any more issues with lens connectivity so just not sure what to purchase first.

Your RF lenses will connect directly to the R6 without the need for an adapter.

Did you remove the RF to EF mount adapter that you are using for your EF lenses? It sounds like you are trying to attach the RF lenses to the EF adapter that you may have left attached to the R6.

DId you buy the EOS R6 Mirrorless Camera with 24-105mm f/4 Lens? That is a normal kit combo. The 24-105mm will mount as is, no adapter is required. If you did not purchase it with your R6 it is a good lens to buy. Perhaps the best single lens you can buy.

Like the other commenter said the only real disadvantage is the weight distribution and maybe the hassle of dealing with the adapter if you mix multiple EF and RF lenses.

But EF L lenses work the same, if not better on R cameras than they ever did on EF cameras. The main appeal of RF lenses is that they are often better in some way(s).

I suspect it is the camera that is better not the EF lens. Lenses can not change what they are.
