I do have the RF 24-105 f47-7.1 and it is a good lens. I cannot compare it to the f4 version since I've never used one. I have not used it a lot since the RF200-800 is usually on my R6II, but it has served well when used, a good lower cost alternative.

Lens upgrade recommendations for a RP

I have a EOS RP (full-frame) and the 24-50 kit lens.

Also, I have two primes - the RFs 16mm and the 28mm (both f/2.8).

I'm mostly on travel photography and don't fancy too much long close-ups like shooting a squirrel in a tree or papparazzi'ng.

With that said, I'm thinking on doing a trade-in with my kit lens for either one of the following options:

* RF 35mm f/1.8
* RF 45mm f/1.2
* RF 50mm f/1.8
* RF 85mm f/2
* RF 24-105 f/4 L (or maybe the f/4 - 7.1) (a bit more expensive but feels like I'm covering a lot)

Which one (or two) would you guys' opinion lean towards?

Greetings,

The 24-105 f4 would be my recommendation. Yes the most expensive of the bunch but you get what you pay for. You will love the versatility it provides and not having to change lenses so frequently.

This is easy. Keep the 16mm f2.8, sell the 28mm and buy the RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens.

Without a specific need the 50mm and 85mm are almost useless. Either will be hard to live with alone or together. If you have a specific use then they are priceless. Same really for the 45mm but I can see a small case being made for buying the 35mm f1.8. On a FF 35mm works out to a fairly nice FL and f1.8 could come into play if the light becomes challenging.

I image the RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens will be on the RP 90% of the time.

I agree with the others here, the 24-105 make a whole lot more sense traveling than another prime. I've often been in places where a lens change is out of the question, due to many possible situations. And often, in the time it takes to change a lens, the opportunity has passed.

Given the 2 primes that you have, go for the 24-105 f4L for sure! If you can find it used you can get better savings and value too.

Im curious how you like the RF200-800 on your R6MII?

The f6.3-9 makes me nervous...
