I'm soon to purchase the EOS R10, but I'm stuck on if I should go with the kit lens (RF-S18-150 F3.5-6.3 IS STM) or another, so I'd really like some recommendations that are hopefully under or around $400.

As for what I'd like to shoot, as a hobby I love shooting birds/wildlife, but most telephotos are not in that budget range for me yet and I'd also like a good lens for portraits or street photography. Basically a lens that is an all in one. I'd like something that gets me some good photos for genuine business/commission, but also one for my side hobby. Kind of a hard question to ask but I've done a ton of research and starting to struggle to narrow it down.

Hopefully can find some better options or alternatives- thanks!

There are NO native options for under $400 that's the only option. There isn't 1 lens that can do everything. The whole point of an ILC (Interchangeable Lens Camera) is to switch out lens depending on the situation. Canon did have the EF-S 18-200mm F/3.5-5.5 IS lens. But it would have to be adapted for use on RF Mount cameras. Also the lens is NOT fully Compatible with the highly advanced AF systems found in the EOS R Series. The AF motor is TOO SLOW and Canon has discontinued the AF motor called Micro Motor years ago in favor of STM (Stepper Motor) in 2012. This lens uses a very old and slow AF motor called Micro Motor which was first released in 1993. Which replaced the older Arc Form Drive AF motor which is the original EOS AF motor used in EF lenses.

I have the EOS R10 with the RF-S 18-150mm kit lens and it has proven to be an extremely good combination. The range of focal lengths is incredible for the size and weight of the lens.

Canon's own website currently lists the price for the RF-S 18-150mm lens at $499, so swapping to a cheaper $400 lens makes little sense in my view.

As others have noted the RF-S 18-150mm is a good lens. If the price is truely fixed there is a refurbished RF 55-210 in stock right now. They don't normally last long.
