topic which RF 70-200mm f2.8 lens? in Gear Guide

I own the R5 mark ii and am looking to buy my first RF lens 70-200mm f2.8. I noticed there are 2 (one has a Z in title) and was wondering the advantages/differences between the 2. I know one is a hybrid? I mostly shoot sports photography (baseball) & outdoor family/individual sessions. But interested in wildlife photography if I ever have time.

<LI-PRODUCT title="RF70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM Z" id="RF70200mmF28LISUSMZ"></LI-PRODUCT> vs

it won't link the other but there's a RF 70-200 mm L IS USM (no Z). mfr 3792C002

Price point is similar. Can anyone tell me which one is better for sports (baseball) photography, portrait shoots, wildlife etc.

Greetings ,

While the 70-200 is great for sports, it's on the short end for wildlife.

One of the biggest differences between these two lenses is the non-Z is an external zoom. The Z series is an internal zoom. If you were planning to use a TC with the lens, you'd want to go with the internal zoom (Z) as the external zoom is not compatible with a TC. My recommendation is that you not use a TC and buy the focal length that you need, instead of trying to get it with a teleconverter.

The non-Z series is geared primarily for photography, whereas the Z series is a hybrid lens geared for both photo and video. These are the key differentiators between the two.

If you're planning to shoot wildlife, I would recommend the RF 100-500 (at minimum) or the RF 200-800 (preferred) for wildlife.
