EF Lens recommendations for camping trip

I was gifted an EOS Rebel T7 for Christmas for a safari in January. I'm loving learning.

I got a telephoto EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM lens, and the Safari pics are amazing!

We're about to start camping season (RV). I want to learn night sky photography. I researched lenses for weeks. I was about to pull the trigger on the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art DC HSM, and then (truth) Friday night I was drunk online, and a refurbished Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM popped up for 50% off, so I bought it.

Camping season is about these amazing landscapes in Colorado, Montana, Utah... I assume this lens will be great for these intended uses, but I am questioning if I should diversify lenses instead.

For example, grab the Sigma and the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM.

I know mirrorless \ RF is current state. It would break my heart to buy a new body after my husband just got me this camera. So, I'm learning with this camera and want the best lens for what I want to capture: Night sky and big landscapes.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

The 16mm EF lens is an excellent lens. Just add the 50mm lens to your kit.

Have fun! I like to experiment with different settings. I download the photos to my laptop, check the settings and pick out what was best.

I guess he meant that lens? But in no way do I recommend you buy a 50mm prime lens unless you have a specific and real need for a 50mm prime lens. There are far better choices to spend money on unless you just have a pocket full and need to empty it some. The Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art DC HSM would have been my first choice but since you already bought the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM there is no need to double dip on FL.

"I want to learn night sky photography." A top choice and very popular among astrophotographers is the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 Lens. It is totally manual but that is exactly what you need for astro work.
