Any good UV filters for Canon EOS R7 with Canon RF 100-500 f/4.5-7.1 L IS

Are there any good UV filters for Canon EOS R7 with Canon RF 100-500 f/4.5-7.1 L IS?

I tried a cheap Tiffany UV filter and found that it affected my focus to the point of each pic being soft or completely out of focus.

I have heard expensive UV filter brands may have the same result.

Does anyone have experience with a good UV filter and focus on a Canon camera system similar to mine?

The “best” UV filter to use is already built into the image sensor:

if you need a filter for protection, then use a high quality clear filter.

I would like to use a UV filter for protection especially since I live by the coast and sea salt spray is a consideration.

I am hoping for a filter that will not affect my focus and provide protection.

A clear filter works best for protection. I would avoid a UV filter as it could impact the AF system. Also your camera has one built in so it would be useless unless you were shooting with a film SLR.

I use B+W Nano Clear. Canon also sells Clear Protecto filters.

+1. Most high quality filters have a rated light transmission percentage. You'll need a 77 mm filter.
