I agree with this, " I think it's hard to choose a better lens than the RF 24-70mm F2.8L, ..."

You will have 35mm already included in the RF 24-70mm F2.8L. Sometime put a piece of gaffers tape on the RF 24-70mm F2.8L at the 35mm mark and fix it there. Live with it for a good long while. What is it doing for you? The only upside is the faster aperture the rest not so much. Do you really need that?

I recently traded-up my R10 to an R6MII and was looking for some recommendations/affirmation on the lenses I was eyeing. Looking to do some more shooting with portraits, travel (occasional night/street shooting), and landscapes.

The top two lenses I’m looking at are the 24-70 f/2.8 and 35mm f/1.8. I feel like it covers multiple bases, but wasn’t sure if I’m on the right track with these, or if there were any others I should consider.

Thanks in advance!

A nice upgrade, I still have my EOS R10 and shoot it along with an EOS R6 Mark II myself. I think it's hard to choose a better lens than the RF 24-70mm F2.8L, the only other I would consider if the size and weight at not a problem, and the budget allows is the RF 24-105mm F2.8L. If you do go for the 24-70mm then maybe choose the RF 85mm F2 Macro IS STM lens for a little more reach for portraits.

The choice of the 35mm F1.8 is not a bad idea, but with only 1 1/3-stop faster aperture it would be as easy to simply raise the ISO in most situations and shoot at f/2.8.

<LI-PRODUCT title="RF24-105mm F2.8 L IS USM Z" id="rf24105f28isusmz"></LI-PRODUCT>

<LI-PRODUCT title="RF 24-70 F2.8 L IS USM" id="RF24-70"></LI-PRODUCT>

<LI-PRODUCT title="RF85mm F2 Macro US STM" id="rf85f2"></LI-PRODUCT>

BTW, one more thought, if you must have a fixed FL prime lens the 35mm is my favorite on a FF camera. Of fixed FL primes the 35mm is probably the easiest one to live with for GP work.
