Ultimately this will depend on how close to the sport action you are able to be.

There are a few telephoto lenses suitable for sports photos at a reasonable distance and all have f/2.8 or faster aperture, but come with big price tags.

RF 100-300mm F2.8 L IS USM
RF 400mm F2.8 L IS USM
RF 135mm F1.8 L IS USM
