Hi all, I have seen a few posts about having an EF-S mount for the 4000d Canon camera. I would really like to get that same shot i was getting back in high school with my SRT200 minolta with 45mm 1:2 lens that I had. Currently I have the EFS 18-55mm lens Macro 0.25m/0.8ft. Which is what it came with.

I REALLY would like to get those old simple quick shots I used to get 40 years ago that I got with my Minolta.

Does anyone have part numbers for such a lens or suggestions? Also not trying to break the bank. Or maybe I am not cut out for this new digital camera stuff... lol

Thank you all in advance.

Try a 24mm prime. Adjusting for the camera crop factor ( 24mm x 1.6 = 38.4mm ) will put you in the ballpark.

Unfortunately, you seem to be outside the US, which means I don’t know what’s available in your country. So I cannot make any lens suggestions.

That could work. Not my first choice, but it’s budget friendly. Shop around.

If it’s used, buy it from a reputable dealer. Don’t buy gear from someone sight unseen. You want some hands on time. Test drive it.

a 50mm f/1.8 prime would be nice. They run about $130. Your field of view will be a little narrower, but the pictures will be sharp, and you get a little more light gathering ability than your 18-55mm zoom, which only goes down to f/3..5.

Your 45mm film lens is equivalent to 28mm on a crop camera(EF-S), so either get a 28mm EF(-S) lens or set your 18-55 to 28mm and (gaffer)tape it(at no cost). A prime 28 has the advantage of a bigger aperture(small DOF) but cost more than a bit of tape and I think no longer available new, either the 1.8 or 2.8 may be available still second hand.
