Safari zoom lens recommendations for EOS Rebel T7

I am looking for a reasonable (cheap) priced zoom lens for my EOS Rebel T7. I am going on a Safari. I just haven't seen a clear answer. Short and sweet. Any suggestions would be great.

What is your budget? Saying “something cheap” isn’t a budget. Cheap could mean something $100 or $1000. So please give us a budget amount. What type of safari is this. How far away are you going to be away. What lenses do you currently and use. Please provide full names of all lenses. EF-S 18-55mm is NOT a complete name. Canon released 9 versions of that lens. I have example lenses posted below to help you identify your lenses.

The cheapest would be the EF 75-300, but it does not work well at low light. 300mm is also a bit short for a safari.

A decent one would be either the sigma or Tamron 150 -600 which are about $1000.

Budget 100-300. I will be honest I only have the 1 that it came with when I purchased it. Sorry I am NEW at this. Safari is in South Africa, Limpopo, Krueger Park. I have no idea how far. Mostly using it in the day probably. My plan was to take a class prior to going. But I have had 2 family deaths and have just not been interested.

$100-300 won't get anything useful. Nowhere near. You could look at used lenses.

So, the lens you have is either an 18-55 or an 18-135mm length, right? Even the 18-135 won't be enough zoom for distant wildlife. You need something 300mm or longer One of the 150-600s would do.

Bear in mind that the longer a lens length/focal length you are using, the more difficult it is to hold steady, certainly when following moving creatures. A tripod or at least a monopod will be a good idea to have.

Sounds like you need to experience long lenses on your camera. Before going off on safari.
