I know theirs a love/hate relationship with third battery batteries, but I've used DJi osmo action oem batteries and they given me nothing but headaches (i never leave my batteries in the camera when im done filming because it kills them). So I'm very hesitant to try name brand batteries. Can anyone recommend me good third party batteries for my Canon 80d?

Greetings,

I use Canon (OEM) and Watson batteries exclusively. Both work perfectly. 😊

Yes storing your camera with batteries isn’t advised. Although on the 80D it shouldn’t draw from them if it’s off. It’s when a battery has an issue or cameras are stored for long periods issues arise generally.

I don't understand the question. You hate the DJi Osmo batteries. You are hesitant to use name brand batteries. What about Canon batteries?

I use two aftermarket brands which are highly-ranked ....Watson and Wasabi. I guess you could say they are "name brands."

I never said i hate them my osmo action batteries their just not as good as people made them out to be. Neither is their charger.I said their's a love/hate relationship about using non Canon batteries in Canon camera because from what i read on forums and articles some say the third party batteries work just as good as the oem, others say dont even bother buying third party because they won't work as good as the oem canon batteries. As for using canon batteries, i don't have any. my 80d came with some type of no name third battery.

1. Batteries are a ripe field for making and selling junk, even counterfeits. The Chinese are great at this.

2. There are aftermarket batteries that can be considered "name brands" and are good quality and perform as well as OEM Canon batteries. Look at B&H Photo/Video for such batteries. Look at eBay and Amazon for many junk names.

An exception.....Wasabis are sold on eBay and Amazon. and are SOLD BY the official USA rep, The Blue Nook. You can trust these.

Bfs, I bought these to use in my 90D and 5d Mk IV and they worked perfectly. When I picked up an R5 and R6 Mk II to my surprise they also worked with zero issues.

There are many aftermarket batteries to be found. They ALL have a brand name. It's easy to put a brand name on something. Whether or not it's a known, reputable name or just another of the many is the question. I'm not familiar with "First Power." $34.00 for two batteries and charger is real cheap. If they continue to work to your satisfaction, good for you. If not, you got what you paid for.
