Hi, Currently now I shoot pictures of cars, wildlife and sports with a bit of car photography on the side with my EOS R50 Lens kit paired with my RF-100-400mm lens. Lately I've been trying out some videography and have seen around the internet of people recommending ND filters as well as some cool filters with star effects as well as soft glow added to their photos/videos. Currently with my setup I'm not too sure what would suit best for my situation as well as being the best affordable and worth my money purchase not only for filters but as well as for cool and neat accessories that would be a great help in my photography/videography journey, thank you!

Greetings,

I'm starting to investigate this as well. I think most people who do this buy a large variable ND for the end of their lens and use step up rings so the larger filter can be adapted to various lenses. The person I've been watching is Josh Sattin on YouTube. He's terrific with histograms, false color and Zebras and how to use them to their full capability for exposure. He also covers post processing in DaVinci Resolve which is something I'm also using.

I think others here might also chime in.

H,

Canon and Meike both make EF to EOS R adapters with variable NDs as well, but this requires you to use EF lenses. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but if you want to stick with RF glass then going with the ND at the end of the lenses is probably the best bet. This also gives you the ability to use a single ND with all the lenses you own. I was initially going to go with the Canon or Meike adapter, but all of my glass is RF now. If you reach out to Josh on his channel he'll tell you what he uses and what he recommends.

Are you sure the recommendation was for ND (neutral density) and not CP (circular polarizer) filters? The former would allow you to keep the aperture wider without maxing out the cameras shutter speed. The latter can help reduce glare on highly reflective surfaces.

I'm pretty sure the recommendation was for ND, but I will take a look at CP filters, thank you!

Check out Maven filters. Magnetic (you’ll need their adapter ring) tier one filters and not cheap. But IMHO you get what you pay for. You Tube and Google search has lots of reviews and comparisons (if you’re into that type of thing). Your native lens hood will also fit over them unlike some other brands.
