Found a good price on a new R7 (from a Canon Dealer) and it's on the way. Some interesting lenses out there in RF/RF-S mount land too. The 24-240 looks very interesting.

I've been having fun using a used 80D (~145,000 shutter count, and seen better days cosmetically) and getting into digital photography the last few months. Also enjoying the editing/post-processing I can do with the files (amazing). I was all film before this since 1987 (and phone cameras 😊). I got a host of EF-S lenses with that 80D, which was an unusual find at an estate sale. Let's just say it was a really good deal. All the lenses are in good shape, very usable, plus with all my older EF lenses, I have quite a few to choose from, ranging from so-so lenses, L primes and zooms. I can use most of them in different situations and be pleased with what I'm getting result wise. I'm really liking the 15-85 lens as an all rounder that I got in that sale.

Okay enough about that. I'm not as resistant to moving into a mirrorless body now. I am considering an R-10 (still) and R7. Either one would be using the Canon EF-R Adapter. I'm not investing into new glass anytime soon. I know the R7 is higher featured, weather resistant (had it with the EOS 1n), dual card slots, and 32.5 vs 24 mp, etc, things I never really had before with film. I think either is an upgrade from the 80D. Any thoughts on which would be best for mostly photography (portrait, landscape, and wildlife, I don't limit myself), with limited video? Or would I go wrong by getting the R10? I like that the 80D has a built in flash, for fill in some situations, but it looks like the R10 flash could be obscured by some bigger lenses. The 80D pentaprism hump keeps it up a bit higher. Not a deal breaker, but a "nice" thing to have flash. I know, lots of variables here. I researched these a ton, but just some real world usage thoughts? I'll be shooting cameras forever, and figure I can start moving into the future a bit. Honestly I'm ready for a new camera body, I deserve it. 🙂

Thanks for thoughts.

Thanks John....pretty concise and to the point. Can't go wrong with either. I do like the size of the R7 a bit more, more what I am used to and large hands (XXL glove size). The statement about a good lens on 24 megapixels will give sharp pictures, I didn't consider until reading that. Appreciate you sharing that.
