"Does this sound correct?"

Yes it does. Ricky probably was thinking a FF camera instead of the R50 and the 24-70mm would be perfect for it.

Canon has a R50 kit. The EOS R50 Mirrorless Camera with 18-45mm and 55-210mm Lenses kit would be perfect for what you want. Canon creates these camera/lens kits because they know what is the best for all around photography that most folks do. Did you not get your R50 with a lens? If not look at the two listed above.

Hello!
Can anyone recommend the best RF lenses for Canon R50 for Close Range Event Photography and Portraits and Landscapes?
Basically I need to shoot crowded events and people at events with distance between the camera and subjects sometimes at around 5 feet...
I am looking at the Canon RF 15-35 but would like professional suggestions.
Thank you!

That would cover your wide angle needs, but that can be a bit too wide for portraits. I'd recommend the RF 24-70 instead if you need a single lens for now.

Thanks Ricky!
I was looking at the 24-70 but on the R50 it seems like it will have to put considerably more distance between the subjects and the lenses. Does this sound correct?
C

Hi EB,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I do have those lenses however I'm looking to move into the more professional lenses with stabilization and better optics.

C

That makes the answer and solution simple. Simply look for R series lenses in those same, or close to, focal lengths. The R series lenses with the "L" designation are the best Canon has to offer.
