MG6851 tells me (sometimes having printed) there is no paper

This happens when there is a quite reasonable pile in the feed, and sheets have already been processed.It's easily cleared by pulling out the feeder and pushing it sharply back in; not a great chore, but irritating. Ideas why it happens?

As oer title Can it be done? My printer has to be at a poor angle for viewing the screen, and I am qiute elderly. To be able to view navigation screen via the computer desktop would be a great help.
