mf6161dw scans are too light when scanning hand written text

mf6161dw scans are too light when scanning hand written text. I changed from b&w to greyscale, which now makes the text legible. However the text is still medium grey instead of black on my old scanner. Need help or i will have to return it.

I actually posted a follow up reply but for some reason it isn't posted here. Cannon could not provide resolve. Returned the printer.

Color does not solver the problem. My old scanner worked fine, but printer died so i bought this one. Unfortunately I will have to return it.

turning to greyscale made the hand written text grey, but not black like my old scanner. Need additional help.
