MP990 Scanner won't link to WiFi

CORNED1

I've had this printer/scanner for years.  Could, until recently, both print and scan. The scanner worked a week ago. A week later scanner only sees a USB connection, it lost the WiFi settings and it won't take them to re-enter. . But I can still print to it.  I'm running Windows 10 and WiFi only to the printer.  Help!

Hi CORNED1,

The PIXMA MP990 was retired prior to the release of Windows 10, and no drivers have been written for the new operating system.  The printer will continue to work with Windows 8.1 or earlier, and will function as a photocopier regardless of operating system. Older versions of the drivers may not provide full functionality on new computers.

If you would like to replace your printer, you are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price, and with free FedEx Ground shipping. If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 seven days a week, 8am to Midnight ET. Let them know you have been working with forum technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.

Thank you for your fast response.  While I hate the fact that you have stopped supporting the device, I appreciate the fact that you told me.  This is just a new form of planned obsolescence, the worst example of which is Quicken.

Good news folks. Windows 10 now natively supports the printer 100% including scanning without installing anything.

You can now access scanning in the Devices and Printers and use all the scanner functions. The printer applet works as before. Again, the scannner is supported. I'm using it connected to my router via ethernet as is my PC. It would of course also work plugged directly into the PC.
