Connect MG3620 to WiFi

I just recently purchased a printer and can't connect it to WiFi. Does there have to be ink cartridges in on order to connect it? I'm lost and confused. I've been pressing the wifi button and waiting for the on light to flash like it says but nothing is happening ! Help!

The PIXMA MG3620 must have the ink cartridges installed before attempting to connect it to your wireless network.
