Re: Camera Connect App User Guide

I suggest you try reseting the mobile device connect button on your camera. To do this on your camera: Menu -> Change camera settings -> Mobile Device Connect Button -> remove any registered destinations. After you have removed all registered designations, go through the connect process. I won't guarantee this will work but give it a try.

I stumbled upon how to do this. When in the gallery view, click the phone icon at the bottom of the display, this lets you select multiple images. You would have to manually select each one to get all of them, I think.

Re: Camera Connect App User Guide

[ Edited ]

Hi!

I've been trying to connect my Canon 750D to my iPhone 5c, but so far without success. When I enable the wifi on the camera, the network created by the camera doesn't show up in the list of possible network connection on my phone.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Thanks!

Re: Camera Connect App User Guide

I haven't encountered a problem with my phone not seeing the camera's wifi signal but I suggest you try resetting the mobile device connect button on your camera (see one of my posts above on the steps)

Re: Camera Connect App User Guide

Finally an English language descriptioin that works!  The user guide scrambled my brain.

The only problem, I shot a picture using remote shooting.  I could see the picture in the small square on the lower left of the screen in the app.  But afterwards, I couldn't find the picture in my gallery.  Do I have to do something to save the picture?

Re: Camera Connect App User Guide

Note that when you use Camera Connect's "Remote Shooting" the images are stored on your camera and not automatically copied to your smartphone photo gallery. Use Camera Connect's "Images on Camera" to transfer the photos from the camera to your smartphone. Keep in mind that if you are GPS data logging with Camera Connect's "Location Information" feature, the GPS data does not transfer to your smartphone when using "Images on Camera" transfer feature (Cannon please fix this!). To transfer images to your smartphone with the GPS data, I copy images from the camera's SD card directly to my smartphone via a SD adapter cable.

Re: Camera Connect App User Guide

Thanks, npsit, for a useful guide.

One correction, applicable to a G5X at least. You say:

>> 5. When operating via Remote Shooting, the camera only works in “P” mode.

However, in the G5X user guide it says:

>> "P" mode is used for shooting in modes other than "P", "Tv", "Av", "M" and "C"

I have taken 50+ photos in M mode, and it works OK. However, to change mode on the camera it seems to require that you reselect "Remote shooting" in the App, else it will not detect the change.

The paucity of the information about remote shooting in the G5X user guide surprises me, in comparison with the other options. For the record I can change ISO, aperture, exposure, and switch flash on / off. I can zoom in and out. I can click to set the point of focus. There's a big shutter button to shoot and, next to it, a smaller button which appears to act as a half-press of the shutter. I was searching for a description of the user interface when I found this thread.

Finally, in my version of the App (1.3.10.21) the control of Location information is within a separate menu item called just that, not within Remote shooting.

Re: Camera Connect App User Guide

Note to DARM: The reason I started this thread was because there seemed to be very little information from Cannon about using Camera Connect (for my G7X) so I put together my own User Guide.

Yes Location Information is a separate menu item from Remote Shooting but I think you can start GPS data logging via Location Info and the go to Remote and the data will continue to be logged. I haven't tried this but it should work.

Re: Camera Connect App User Guide

Hi - did you manage to solve this issue?
I have got a new iphone 6S and can't save the photos from the canon connect app to my phone.

The camera connects fine to the phone and I can see the photos in the app but when I press the download/save button it says: 'Access to the picture is not permitted. In the [settings] applicaiton, from [privacy], permit access to the picture.'

I've checked out the privacy settings on the iphone and can't see there's anything to do.

It all worked fine on my last phone which was an iphone 6

Thanks
