Re: Ready for bird season?

LOL I love the shot of the shooter!!

Pris: I agree with the assesment. Do not buy the kits! Research which body you want and look for deals on them. I bought my 7d Mk2 from a videographer so it had hardly any shutter counts on it and was in pristine shape. Do the same for the lenses. The only lens I ever bought brand new was my brand new Sigma 150-600 C we've been discussing. I could have only saved about $150 going used so I went with full warranty on it due to the sale they were running. Had I paid closer attention to your post and noticed you were using the 75-300 it would have answered my question. The L is a 70-300. Interestingly enough I just saw a review on the 75-300 on a FF 6D and it was amazingly sharp. It was tested on a crop body and was sharp at 75 and god aweful at 300!

I suppose it makes a difference which version of a 75-300 you're talking about.  I have got a EF 75-300 III in my T5 Rebel kit, and the color fringing can be pretty bad, which makes photos look less sharp.

Re: Ready for bird season?

Thanks for menioning that. In fact it was the III that was tested on that 6D and didn't fringe much at all. The test on the crop sensor had so much fringe you couldn't see where the black line stopped and the purple fringe started lol. I would definitely only use it for an emergency back up if you dropped your good one haha. I guess I kind of sounded like he might want to keep it and I ddin't mean to convey that.

Osprey.  I had thought it was a Red Tail Hawk, until I download the photos.

This is at 600mm on a 6D, about a 100% crop.
