After reading a lot more thasn I cared to I found out that for my Canon Printer the MX922 one can select greyscale. But, there is always a but isn't there, the print cannot be 2 sided for some reason. One side and somewhere in the pulldown dialog is a check mark for greyscale. See my screen shot below.

If you do not have the grayscale option with the current printer driver, before printing, please go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES, then PRINT AND SCAN or PRINTERS AND SCANNERS. Click on the minus button to remove the current listing for your printer. Next, on the left side there will be an option to add a printer; click on the + button. Select your printer and under "USE" select the Canon MX920 Series printer with IJ NETWORK listed with it. If you still experience difficulty, we ask that you please contact a Canon technical support representative here for further assistance. A representative will be happy to assist you free of charge.

I need this information also.
I use a MacBook Pro. My operating system is OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.
Here is my driver info you requested from previous inquiries:
Canon MX920 series:
Print Server: Local
Driver Version: 2.0
System Printer Sharing: Yes
PPD: Canon MX920 series-AirPrint
PPD File Version: 2.0
PostScript Version: (3010.000) 0
CUPS Version: 2.1.0 (cups-435.2)
Scanning support: Yes
Scanning app: /Library/Image Capture/Devices/Canon IJScanner5.app
Scanning app (bundleID path): -
Scanning app version: 3.3.4
Scanner UUID: 15E06800-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
Printer Commands: none
image/jpeg: processed in printer
image/urf: processed in printer
Fax support: No
When I follow the instructions and open TextEdit, it does not give me the option of choosing 'Print' as you suggested to a previous inquiry. I don't know how to get to a place where I can choose to print "grayscale" or "black and white."
Any help will be appreciated.
