Hi James_C,

Thanks for respond to my emergency call.

Unfortunately, I all-ready did contact Canon Europe but they have no solution at all for this problem.

Their Answer is 'if LCD-screen is not 'On'  than  'LCD-screen is in Screen Protection Modus'.

Again forwarded question to explain where to find "Screen Protection Mode" to be able to reset tis modus.

No Answer.

We experience that Canon Europe is not one of the friendlies and help-full Suppliers is they-are supposed to be.

Our question also posted at Google Netherlands but so-fare no reaction.

Anyway, thanks for yours kind advice.

Regards,

AdamSmith 1775 (Albert)

It is now 2020, and I have the same problem. I cannot see the LCD on my Canon Pixma 492. I always have to use a flashlight to read it as there is no light at all. If anyone has a solution, I would greatly appreciate it. I haven't found a solution anywhere.

I also have the same problem with my newly acquired Pixma G6020.  Very frustrating since muy previous pixma printers never had issues with this.  If you get a resolution please let me know.

Thanks

Same here with my brand new Pixma G6020, I have to keep a flashlight near the printer to read the LCD.  Even when the first LCD watches came out over 30 years ago they had a button to backlight the display.  Substandard on what otherwise appears to me to be an excellant product.

I'm having the same problem. It is very frustrating because you can't see anything on the screen which makes it difficult to use the printer.
