My printer started printing "shadow/double" letters, words, sentences, etc... making the text unreadable.  Any ideas why it is doing this? Every type of document is doing this PDF's, Word, Excel.  It is as if it isn't aligned.

I have the same problem with a 2 year old MG7720.  I have tried everything suggested on this board.  I just upgraded my MAC to Catalina, but I had it before I did the upgrade.  I have auto cleaned the heads, etc. I can print in blue fine, just not Black. That seems to be the problem!

I'm having the same trouble with my MG7720. Only pageblack isn't printing right. Things are misaligned and double printing in pageblack. I've done multiple auto and manual alignments and cleaned the decoder strip. No change. I'm tired of putting money into printers that become huge paperweights after a couple of years. I hope you find a solution!

The first step would be to perform printhead cleanings:

Next, please clean the encoder:

If the issue persists, your PIXMA MG7720 would require service. You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program.  This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system.  This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
