My Operating system is window 8; 64-bit; x64-based processor. I am new to this process and will include this info with any future inquiries. Appreciate your reply.

Scans can be made with our IJ Scan Utility program.
Please open the IJ Scan Utility from your Desktop or the Canon Utilities listing of the Start Menu.
Once there, you can use the "Documents" option to scan your documents.
