Canon DR-1210C Scanner and Win8

Dear Subscribers,

Considering fabulous deals are out there for the discontinued Canon DR-1210C Scanner, I'd appreciate your opinion on this particular model and it's compatibility with Win8 or Win8.1. Will it run?

The latest drivers available are for Win7.

While the imageFORMULA  DR-1210C does support scanning with the Windows 7 operating system, the unit does not support scanning with the Windows 8/8.1 operating system, as there are no drivers available.

While considering the desire to provide the best possible support for Canon's current products in a timely manner, Canon must make decisions on which products to support when operating systems are introduced. These decisions are generally based on the age of the product and the number of product estimated to be still in use.

It seems that this is a canned Cannon reply.

I know Canon does not offer Win8 drivers, but  has anybody in the real world tried to install and run the Canon DR-1210C Scanner with Win8/8.1?
