How to Set Hyperfocal Distance?

NiceShotSteve

Most EOS lenses lack a comprehensive DOF scale. If I want to use manual focus and set the lens to its f/8 hyperfocal distance, how do I do that when the lens doesn't even show f/8, or if it does, the tick marks are so close as to make them meaningless? I recall older EOS cameras that had a "DEP" function that worked pretty well, but of course the newer models do not. Suggestions?

Yes, DEP mode was useful. A-DEP not so much...  Anyway, I have an iPhone with me most of the time and use the following app:

https://itunes.apple.com/app/pcam-film-digital-calculator/id295456485

It's not free but is pretty flexible with calculating DOF plus other functions for various camera/lens combinations.  There is a lot of video functions that I don't use though.

Currenly using R5 and R7 mostly plus a variety of Canon RF and EF lens...

DOF Master is my favorite and a very nice tool, especially for you Apple users since there is an app.  I'm still waiting for the  Android app to come out so for now I have to have an Internet connection and use the Android link.
