My new printer, the ip 2702 had a power/software issue after I initially installed it, and was told by the service tech to send back the unit and a new one would be sent in its place, (which they did) but I do not know how to salvage the the ink cartridges from the old unit without power. I was told I could keep the ink cartridges and the other accessories.
If you can see the printhead with its cartridges, you might just reach in and PULL it over to retrieve them. After all, it IS being returned for exchange, the service techs should be able to undo any damage done---if any.
