Why did Canon get rid of the rear feed tray ? It was a stupid move.

I was really disappointed that the new Canon printer I bought did not have a rear feed tray. Now I can't run business cards that I print myself through it. Big, big mistake on Canons part.  Won't buy another Canon until they put it back. I really liked Canon printers till now.

How often does big business make "smart" decisions??  Smiley LOL

My guess:
1. Cost (isn't that always the reason?)
2. Reduce size, AKA marketing. The general public wants smaller.

Nothing sticking out the back. Except for straight printers, I would think the addition on a flat bed scanner (the basic difference between a MF and true printer) on top creates a physical problem with the paper feed path. The depth would have to be extended to make room for it.

AFAIC, top feed is superior for the simple reason; you have gravity working for you. The paper drops into the printer. Also, the angle is reduced by 50%. 80 degrees vs 180 degrees (a 'right' turn vs a 'U' turn)
