As in, are there areas that each camera excels?  It could be argued that the 5d3 can do everything the 7D can, and more, but that comes with caveats.  Really the difference between the two isn’t the cameras, it’s the (well discussed) difference between crop sensors and full frame sensors.  Also, the 5d3 is a relatively new camera, the 7D, while still quite capable, is getting on in years.

The 7D is the current top of the line of crop sensor cameras that Canon makes.  It has a very good autofocus system compared to other Canon crop sensor cameras.  If you were to pick an area the 7D excels at it would be sports/action.

The 5d3 is the middle tier of full frame cameras.  It also has a great autofocus system, which is also one of the main features that separates the 5d3 from its peer the 6D.  The 5d3 autofocus is better than the 7D, and because of the modern full frame sensor there is no comparing the image quality.   The 5d3 is also very capable of sports, but will far outperform the 7D when it comes to low light performance.

One big difference between them is that the 7D has a built in flash (handy when travelling light) but the 5D3 does not.

Are you asking if there's a specific area of the Canon forums for questions about 7D and 5D bodies or are you asking about the differences in these two cameras?

If you're asking about the message forums, the "EOS" forum is the place to post questions about those camera bodies.  There is not a specific section just for 7D and a different message area just for 5D III.  There is only this section (for EOS bodies other than Rebel bodies) and different section for Rebel bodies.  They don't break down the areas by specific camera model -- only by the family that they're in.

Thank you. Looking for specific camera sections. Wanted to make sure that I was in the proper place.

This is it.  You're in the right place.

Thank you. I've been shooting with a 7D for quite a while, and have just added the 5D Mk III. Lots to learn about the 5 D.

Canon has a 47 page downloadable PDF book that goes in-depth into the advanced focusing and intelligent tracking & recognition system (iTR) on the 1D X and 5D III.  You'll definitely want to give this a read.

You can find it here:  http://learn.usa.canon.com/resources/articles/2012/1dx_guidebook.shtml

Thank you, I have downloaded it and will print it.

The 5D Mk III is a perfect companion to the 7D. You did good.Smiley Very Happy
