Got my 7D MK2 For Christmas and have struggled to get it to connect to my MacBook Pro wouldn't show up as a device in Finder. Downloaded new software from Canon to no avail. The fix is simple the Camera will NOT connect over USB if the WE1 Wireless card is installed it has to be removed not just deactivated.

I was having the same problem.  I would connect and turn the camera on.  It would connect but only momentarily and never show up in the file explorer.  I uninstalled the camera and then turned it back on and it was then visible to file explorer and stays connected.  Hope this helps someone.
