Shutter speed / settings

I just got the Canon rebel t6 and every time my camera is on manual (or any mode for that matter) and i adjust the iso or aperture or anything, it changes my shutter speed. So once i get a look i'm happy with i'm stuck taking 15 second pictures when i need 1/250. How do i make it where i can set the shutter speed on the menu and then adjust the settings on the picture without altering the shutter speed?

If shutter speed is the most important factor in a shot use Tv mode. In Canonspeak, this is "time value" but other companies call it "shutter priority" mode.  You select the shutter speed you want and the camera will manipulate the other variables (aperture and ISO) to give you a correct exposure.

Why do so many people say "FER-tographer"? Do they take "fertographs"?
